Ochoa is the first female First Sergeant in charge of Southern Nevada Recruiting and Retention and Recruit Sustainment Company for the Nevada Army National Guard. She joined the United States Army National Guard on May 21, 2002 and has served for more than 18 years. She has deployed to Iraq three times and once in Kosovo. During her first deployment to Iraq (2004-2006), she was a MK-19 Gunner/Driver during convoy missions for 18 months. On her second tour to Iraq (2006-2007), she was in charge of the Motor pool, where combat military vehicles are serviced.
